Gariba’s Story

Homeland Ghana staff member meeting with Builsa North Municipal Director of Education, Gabriel Johnson, to discuss improving basic education in Ghana

“The girl child is always kept in school, learning with their counterparts.”

My name is Gariba Johnson, and I am the current Municipal Director of Education for the Builsa North Ghana Education Service.

I am very grateful for the opportunity to share my experience with Homeland Ghana and thank you for the good work you have been doing in the district and across Ghana. Your achievements are clear for everyone to see.

One area where Homeland Ghana has made an impact is by providing sanitary pads for girls. Some girls miss classes and stay away from school during their menstrual periods. By providing sanitary pads, Homeland Ghana helps girls stay in school and learn alongside their classmates.

Homeland Ghana has also supported students who have torn school uniforms by providing new ones. Having a torn uniform can also prevent boys from going to school. By identifying these students and giving them uniforms, Homeland Ghana has helped keep them in school.

The provision of stationery to our schools is also excellent. Sometimes, it feels as though the government has forgotten basic schools, including primary, KG and JHS, while much of the focus is on Free Senior High School. Homeland Ghana’s support for our boys and girls is helping them work hard, continue with their education and succeed in their studies.

Homeland Ghana has also supported the renovation of two schools: Siniensi Primary School and Kori Primary School. I have seen the pictures, and my team has also told me about the excellent work you have done. This is very commendable.

We thank you so much for all these efforts. We appreciate the good work Homeland Ghana is doing and encourage you to continue supporting communities that need help.
