Joshua’s Story

“I was not good at Maths and Science, but now I am better because of the textbooks they gave us”

My name is Joshua Sulley. I am 16 years old, and I like it when teachers are teaching.

Before Homeland Ghana came, school was not interesting, and there was a lack of books. One thing that was difficult was the chalkboards we were using. Whenever we cleaned them, the particles entered our eyes, but later, Homeland Ghana gave us marker boards.

My favourite memory was when they gave us Mathematics, Science and English textbooks. Another time they built toilet facilities for us. They also painted our school.

I learnt from Homeland Ghana, through the child rights workshops, that parents should not beat children violently. I feel very happy now because I was not good at Mathematics and Science, but I am better at them now because of the textbooks they gave us.

I would like to be an engineer in the future, and Homeland Ghana has helped me believe in myself.
