“When I returned to Ghana in 2017, I visited community schools in the Builsa North District. What I encountered reflected challenges shared by many schools across the region.
Classrooms were overcrowded. Learning resources were limited. Too many children were struggling to learn well. I felt a responsibility to respond.
That response became Homeland Ghana.
Seven years on, the work continues. We support children to remain in school, learn with dignity, and complete basic education, laying foundations that shape opportunities for work and life.”

Planning & Development
Kirsten strengthens the systems that support our work. She leads on planning and internal processes, helping ensure the foundation beneath our school activities is steady and sustainable.
Farouk plans and coordinates our school workshops and training activities. He works closely with schools to ensure sessions are well organised, relevant, and responsive to students’ needs.
Sita leads workshops on child rights, alcohol awareness, and antisocial behaviour. His work supports students to understand their rights, speak up, and navigate challenges both in and beyond school.
Mavis supports our communications by sharing stories from the work and helping build understanding around basic education. Her focus is on consistency, clarity, and thoughtful storytelling.
Orla supports relationships with our donor community. She ensures supporters feel informed, valued, and connected to the work, while helping communicate how consistent support sustains our programmes.
This Christmas, we’re offering a digital giving option for those who want to give a gift that reflects their values.
It supports children’s basic education in Ghana through steady, thoughtful work in schools.
Thanks to you, this journey keeps going — and growing.
